Koh Samui Luxury Tips — What to Know Before You Book

Best time for luxury travel: December through April is the dry season with perfect weather — calm seas, minimal rain, and temperatures around 28–32°C. This is peak season, so book early. May to October sees more rain (especially October), but rates drop 30–40% and the island is still beautiful. June–August can be surprisingly good — less rain than you'd expect.

Book 2–3 months ahead for peak season. The best villas at the top resorts (especially Four Seasons and Six Senses) sell out months in advance for December–February. For Christmas and New Year, book 4–6 months ahead. For the rest of the year, 4–6 weeks is usually sufficient.

Private pool villas are worth the upgrade. Most of Koh Samui's luxury resorts are built around the pool villa concept — that's what you're paying for. If a resort offers both rooms and villas, always go for the villa. The difference in experience is significant, especially for couples and honeymoons.

Half-board packages often save you 20–30%. Most luxury resorts offer half-board (breakfast + dinner) or full-board packages. Given that resort dinners typically run ฿2,000–4,000 ($60–120) per person, half-board can represent genuine savings. Check whether the package includes all restaurants or just specific ones.

Budget ฿3,000–7,000 ($80–200) for spa treatments. Signature treatments at the top resort spas run ฿3,000–5,000 ($80–140) for 60 minutes. Longer sessions and couples' treatments go higher. Consider a yacht day trip. Several resorts (Four Seasons, Belmond) can arrange private yacht charters to the Angthong Marine Park — expect to pay ฿30,000–60,000 ($850–1,700) for a full-day private charter, or join a group tour via Klook or Viator for ฿2,000–4,000 ($55–110) per person.
